I have found in conversations with new potential clients that it’s common to wonder about what happens in the 20 minute consultation call, especially if this is your first time considering therapy. This call serves a couple different purposes, including giving you the opportunity to get a sense of how it is to engage with me as your potential therapist, learn about my style, and ask any questions that you might have. I assist in guiding this conversation by getting to know you as well and inquiring about some of the “big picture” reasons you are seeking therapy at this time. I also ask about what changes you are hoping to experience in your life as a result of your dedication and work in therapy. My hope is that this conversation feels comfortable, eases any nerves you might have, and gets you directed to the best support for you whether that is with me or another therapist.
